Before we move onto today’s idea, let me just hand out a little digital product literature to you LOL.
Have you seen my Instant Ribbon Templates??? (LOL).
To thank everyone for their interest in this series and making it the best read series ever posted in my blog, you can get 40% off this product in my store with coupon code RIBBONS40OFF. Product available HERE.
Obviously I think they’re really cool because I’ve been blogging about how to use them for 2 straight weeks. And honestly the only other thing I’ve done consistently, without interruption, for the past 14 days is feed my family and have my morning coffee. So this product MUST be GOOD, right?
I thank you very much for buying it at christinesmith.net and that’s all I’m going to say about that. Well, actually, once more: THANKS for supporting my designs!
Today’s idea is easy, kind of basic but really fun. It’s just making a mat of a bunch of different ribbons to go behind a frame or photo.
You can get a really colorful layout this way. If the kit you are using doesn’t have enough ribbons to execute this idea then of course I would recommend you buy my Instant Ribbon Templates to round out your collection!
You could also mix in laces, and rick-racks and strings. You can choose colors out of your kit or out of your photo. If you go with something really colorful like my example, you can make it into the theme of your page, using a title that talks about color or even rainbows. This would be cute for so many page themes!
In the sample, I’ve trimmed each ribbon at slightly random angles for a little bit of realism and for the edges to feel a little dynamic. Thanks for reading and be sure to come back for the last post in this series!

Thank you for your freebies. Link on your post was added to PickleMouse freebie list
Thanks Christine for the tutorials, they are great. Have purchased the templates and already used them on my Korean War Memorial layout. Have converted all of your tutorials to .pdf files and just need tomorrow's #15 for the complete set. Had problems adding papers to the templates so I ended up using the .png files to make those ribbons, which worked well. Recoloring was so easy to do. I use PSE 8.
Thanks so much for these wonderful easy to follow tutorials! I missed seeing this when your templates were on sale, but intend to get them during the next sale. They look like such fun!
