Digital Scrapbook Pages

I had some good scrapping time this weekend and got some stuff done, which is very satisfying to me.  My MIL was over also when I was loading my order of 50 prints from Persnickety into an album and she was sort of marveling over the whole process (she’s more than 85 years old and doesn’t use a computer much). I explained that this is the ONLY crafty thing I do anymore – no more paper, glue and scissors for me, although I did let the girls get out some glitter to decorate some chipboard crosses for Easter. (Just trying to get the good mom award in the bag LOL).  I am really sort of compelled to create so scrapping and being a digital scrapbook designer really FEEDS me.  I’ve probably said that a few times before but I know that many people can relate!  So here’s what I made on Sunday:

imagination-fair

Journaling:

Second annual school Imagination Fair - kids could create anything and put it in the fair for everyone to see. Gloria made a diomara called “Squishee Museum and Lauren made an underwater scene that had a special light that could be lit up by connecting foil pieces on the top. November 2010

thanksgiving-2010

journaling: Traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings, includind the special cranberry/raspberry jello, all prepared by me for our family.  The kids battled over who got to sit at the “little table” with Heidi and where the homemade turkey placecards would go! I told everyone when I was young, it was a big deal NOT to sit at the “kids’ table”. 2010

everything from Gratitude kit by Christine Smith Digital Design – glad I finally got around to using the Thanksgiving kit I made last Fall, LOL.

jury-duty

journaling: November 2010 - this is the building that houses the Hennepin County Courts in downtown Minneapolis, where I spent 8 business days on jury duty in a case that involved a gang-related drive-by shooting incident. It was an interesting and valuable experience but it was hard to take the bus downtown every morning and not be home until late in the afternoon. I think I learned to appreciate the safe place we live in, the safe schools our kids attend, the good upbringing I received and the normal life I lead. Everyone leanred what our life would be like if I worked outside our home and how different our lives would be. I learned that court and crime scene investigations are not like they show on TV at all. I met interesting people from different walks of life and it was amazing that we could set aside our personal differences to do the job of the jury. We did find the defendant guilty and I think for a long time whenever I go past the bus ramp or the area of the shooting I will think of this experience and the foolish actions of the 18 year old kids who committed this crime.
