Back in the day, I used to post all my personal pages to this blog. Over the years, my habits have changed (back and forth sometimes) and the galleries I hang out in have changed. I kind of miss when people used to really take the time to comment on pages but I understand that part of people NOT doing it now is actually due in part to the growth of digital scrapbooking – there are a LOT of people doing it and the big galleries go fast. Part of the equation in my posting here also has to do with how I plan to use this blog, my digital scrapbook designer Facebook, Twitter account and christinesmith.net store newsletter. I hope to get everything set up where you can just get the kind of news you want from me and in the format you want. And for some people, that includes seeing the digital scrapbook pages I create for my own family. I know I’m not a star-quality scrapper but I enjoy looking at pages that are similar in style to my own (namely pretty traditional!) and know that others feel the same. So here’s a few of the things I made recently. Those who have been with me a while may notice that I not currently working in 8½x11. I switched to 12x12 when my photo printer died and am saving up until I have 50 prints to send off to Persnickety. I think I mkight be a better scrapper on a square canvas. Well, I like these pages anyway, LOL!

Apple Orchard
journaling
I know I have a scrapbook page and pictures from the apple
orchard for every year but it’s a tradition that I love and hope everyone else does too. And one that will be remembered fondly. As in the past few years, we went to Deardorff again but the apple picking was actually quite poor this year due to a hard frost in May. All the other local orchards had the same trouble. But we still had the wagon ride and full bellies when we left there.

journaling reads:
This swing has gotten so much use over the years. It has been replaced a couple times and will probably stay around as long as we have the tree because it’s so much fun. This Spring the kids invented yet another way to have fun and freak mom out. They pull back on the bottom to get the swing as high as possible, even if it makes the rider dangle from the swing like Natalie is here. Surprisingly, there have been very few accidents or injuries even though people like to use this swing in extreme ways (including jumping out of the tree onto it.)

With everybody else zooming up and down our street on their bikes and you on your little hand-me-down tricycle, you were feeling really left out and left behind. So we went to Target with some of your birthday and gift money and bought this new bike. You loved it because it came with a Barbie bike that attaches on the front so Barbie can ride along with you. You’re just summer girls at heart. Spring is simply practice for later in the year when you want to be at the beach all the time. This day wasn’t really that warm but there was ample sunshine to make you want to go lie down in it and dream of summer to come. April 2010

my whole family on Mother's Day 2010
journaling
For Mother’s Day, I really wanted to take a picture of our whole family because we didn’t have any of all of us - just the kids on Easter or Christmas. When they look at this picture, they each look at themselves to see if it’s a good picture but when I look at this, I see how incredibly blessed we are to have six amazing, unique, gifted, beautiful daughters entrusted to our care by God. Being a wife and a mom is such an important part of who I am that I would not be the same person without having borne and raised these girls (so far). God works in me through our marriage and through parenting to smooth out my rough spots and grow me. My hope for each of our daughters is that they will know and serve the Lord in their own lives, whether they become mothers or not and that they will always know that they are loved and adored.
